Navigating the Rapids of Whitewater Rafting Insurance

Whitewater Rafting Business Insurance

Whitewater rafting excites your spirit and ignites your soul. Without a doubt, it’s exhilarating and risky, but that’s one of the reasons why we love it so much. Even rafting in smooth, easy water comes with its unique exposure to risk. Commercial adventure sports insurance helps ensure the fun that comes with the sport is still there even if there’s an incident.

Each whitewater rafting operation is unique with different insurance needs, just like the class of the river varies by the water and obstacles surrounding it. At CBIZ, we are lucky to have a team well-versed in outdoor adventure. Our VP of Sales, Chris Frazee brings an extensive adventure sport background, having spent 18 years working for a raft manufacturer and being a former river guide in Idaho.

Maneuvering through Different Insurance Policies

You want to know that your rafting business is taken seriously and in good hands. Correctly insuring your business does just that. Whitewater rafting liability insurance compensates for damages incurred by your guests and helps fight against lawsuits.

For example, a guest could trip and fall on the way to the raft or when leaving the river. Accidents like these are common but can still result in serious injury. Without a strong policy on your side, you could experience an expensive lawsuit. Don’t forget that whitewater rafting is an adventure sport and could lead to death.

Although you do everything to keep your guides and customers protected at all costs, property and commercial auto insurance should not be overlooked. Rafting equipment, supplies and mortgage payments are expensive. Commercial adventure sports insurance helps protect against the loss of vital equipment you need to run your business.

Class I, II and III Rapids

Class I, II and III Rapids will create some jolt as the rafts shimmy down narrow passageways and feel the impact of larger waves. Many first-time rafters will begin here to learn the basics. It’s crucial for your guides and business to be covered from all ends just in case.

“Even the “easiest” rapids present the risk of injury or death,” says rafting and insurance expert Chris Frazee. “That’s why my team and I are here to help guide you in protecting your business.”

Class IV and V Rapids

As each class rises in difficulty, CBIZ Adventure Sports can help find the correct policy to cover your river business. If your business takes guests on Class IV and V Rapids, we understand the need for reliable protection.

Our team member Chris says, “To properly and effectively run class IV/V rapids, you need to know how to navigate the obstacles ahead with the proper equipment.  No different, your insurance policy needs to be correctly written to cover you for the class of water you operate on.  CBIZ Adventure Sports has a customized insurance program specifically designed for whitewater rafting companies who operate on water classified above class III.  With 25+ years in the whitewater rafting industry and continuing to recreationally raft myself, I understand your business and what coverages you need to properly operate your business.”

Even if your trips include strong currents, vertical drops and obstacles to avoid, we can help protect you. Anytime larger waves and narrow passages are thrown into the mixture, more precise maneuvering and insurance are needed to avoid upset and a lawsuit.

Oh, alright. I guess no one has ever told me before that the first three types (or classes) or rapids are more preferable among newbies because of the low level of difficulties they offer. I'm gonna have to remember this when making further arrangements sooner or later. My cousin's family are going to Alaska this weekend and she wonders if there's any outdoor activities they can try there. https://copperriverguides.com/river-rafting
